De Lank Quarry Cavell Memorial
Scan of a photograph, courtesy of John Woolf. A group of local people pictured with the part-finished memorial to Edith Cavell in De Lank Quarry, circa 1918. This is the top carving of the memorial, erected in St Martin's Place, London. The statue of Edith Cavell herself is of white limestone, and is sited on a plinth of De Lank granite at the street level of the memorial. Notes on back of photo postcard state that the lady third from left is Nurse Crahart, a much-loved and respected public-subscription nurse in St Breward.
