Pre-History The people who lived in what is now the parish of St Breward before any written records were kept, nevertheless left their mark in the remains of their stone buildings, graves and monuments; fortunately on the upland areas these have suffered relatively little disturbance. However, we must bear in mind that early wooden structures left little evidence of their existence and stone structures were robbed of material for later building, as sites were used and re-used during thousands of years.
